Joseph Quinn Appreciates ‘Stranger Things’ Fans 2023
Even though Stranger Things is nearing its conclusion, it remains one of Netflix’s most popular original series. Joseph Quinn won the Golden Popcorn for Breakthrough Performance tonight (May 7) at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards for his portrayal of Eddie Munson.
Eddie was introduced as the commander of the Hellfire Club in the fourth season of Stranger Things in 2016. Eddie was an immediate fan favorite due to his endearing personality and protective care for his companions. While he suffers a horrible fate during the season, fans rallied in support of Eddie and posited that he may reappear in the fifth and final season.
During his acceptance speech, Quinn profusely thanked the show’s viewers, stating that they made receiving the award even more meaningful.
Quinn recognized Stranger Things fans’ eerie impact.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who cast a vote for me. “That is a very sweet gesture,” Quinn said. “The fact that these awards are voted on by fans makes me feel especially grateful, and I owe you a great deal.”
Stranger Things has one of the most devoted fan bases, with the collective contributing to the show’s record-breaking success. With such a solid foundation, the Stranger Things fanbase wields more power than both Vecna and the upside-down combined.
He continued, saying, “Without your support, none of the incredible experiences I’ve had over the past year would have been possible. Therefore, I am extremely appreciative for you. I’m a tad afraid of you, but ultimately, I owe you everything.
Not only did the most recent season of Stranger Things help establish Quinn’s career, but it also helped revive the popularity of Kate Bush’s 1985 single “Running Up That Hill.” After more than 37 years since its initial release, the tune became the most-streamed nostalgic song on Spotify in 2017.
