Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz’s son discusses becoming a musician like his parents 2023
Egypt, 12-year-old son of Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, has a surprising career goal.
Swizz Beatz praised his son and his musical ability on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on April 25.
Egypt demonstrated another gift when he joined his father on Jennifer Hudson’s white couch.
“Do you want to be a musician like your mom and dad?” the talk show presenter and singer said.
Egypt said, “I love music, but I don’t want to be a musician. I wanna play basketball.”
Hudson, Swizz Beatz, and the audience praised Egypt’s honest response. “Love that,” she said.
After experiencing music, the 12-year-old wants to be an NBA player.
Swizz Beatz and Hudson recalled Egypt playing in the recording studio with her 13-year-old son David before his son arrived.
The EGOT recipient remembered their children singing and playing piano. Since then, Egypt has played piano onstage with his mom and produced a song for Kendrick Lamar’s 2016 album “Untitled Unmastered.”
Swizz Beatz joked about his son charging Keys and Lamar for his concerts before explaining how the “Humble” rapper and he collaborated.
The 44-year-old producer says Egypt and Lamar hit it off at a Super Bowl. I saw him and Kendrick talking for 40 minutes. Kendrick, is he upsetting you? Move him? Enjoying yourself?
Lamar astonished him by saying Egypt, then 5, was helping him with writer’s block.
“What Egypt is telling me is helping me deal with something,” Lamar told Swizz Beatz.
Egypt and Lamar reunited for Lamar’s collection CD. Egypt produces and appears on the untitled track seven.
Hudson inquired, “Did he charge him?”
“He definitely charged him,” Swizz Beatz joked. Egypt profited from that record.”
Swizz Beatz said it’s “beautiful” to watch his son’s musical skills develop, but he and Keys don’t want to “force” music on Egypt.
He told Hudson, “The one thing that we don’t do is force things on them. Art isn’t forced. Music isn’t forced. We force goodwill.
He added, “As long as you have good intentions on what you’re doing, we’ll support it. It’s optional. We need to guide the kids but not put pressure on them.
The 42-year-old singer and Swizz Beatz, married since 2010, have an 8-year-old kid, Genesis. With Nicole Levy, the songwriter has 22-year-old Prince.
Keys and Swizz Beatz honor Egypt’s music.
After their song with Lamar came out, they complimented their little prodigy.
Swizz Beatz posted an Instagram shot of him playing the tune in March 2016.
“This is the best Dad moment everrrrr!” he wrote. “Congrats to my son Egypt for producing his first track on this amazing Kendrick Album.”
He added, “wowwww@aliciakeys look at our baby boy.” He revealed behind-the-scenes footage of Egypt performing the track’s keyboards. The 5-year-old nodded while pounding the keyboard.
