Eastbourne’s amusement is Abigail’s Party 2023
It was 1977, the year that Elvis died, the Queen celebrated her Silver Jubilee, the Sex Pistols stormed the charts, and Abigail’s Party premiered at Hampstead Theatre, with Alison Steadman immortalizing the role of Beverly.
Beverly prepares her suburban living room for the advent of her visitors. She and her husband, a real estate agent, will host their new neighbors Angela, Tony, and Susan, an apprehensive divorcee.
As the alcohol pours and buttery pineapple snacks are passed around, Mike Leigh’s ruthless and hilarious examination of British life in the 1970s commences. Abigail’s Party is an undisputed classic due to its hilarious and horrifying appeal.
Entertainment in Eastbourne may be found at Abigail’s Party.
