Jennifer Garner Has a Huge ‘Problem’ With Being Always Pleasant 2023
Jennifer Garner dislikes her reputation for being pleasant.
In a recent interview with Allure, the Alias actor discussed the pressure to be “perfect” and admitted she struggles to maintain a positive attitude on her harsher days.
Jennifer explained in the interview: “The problem with ‘Oh, she’s so nice’ is that when I have any kind of boundary, people perceive it to be much greater than it actually is.”
“The issue is being recognized on a day when I’m not so pleasant or when my psyche is dark. I’ve experienced days where I’m simply unable to continue. I frown at individuals before they even approach me.”
“I’m not perfect, and I don’t think I’m rude, but I’m not good at being fake,” the actor continued. “I’m an open book type of person.”
Jennifer said celebrity made communication difficult.
“It was extremely difficult to hold a conversation for two decades,” she told the magazine.
“Not in a pitiful celebrity manner. I was on 24-hour infant watch every day. The day after I gave birth, [the paparazzi] resumed their surveillance. They sort of hurry you through life because they’re just trying to move on to the next phase of something they can peddle.”
Jennifer is all too familiar with this attention, having reared her three children in the spotlight. The actor shares children Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Sam, 11, with her ex-husband Ben Affleck. The couple separated in 2015 and were divorced in 2018.
During an October 2022 interview with Town & Country, she previously confessed to having a “salty” side.
“I’m not always just nice,” she stated at the time. “I can also be sarcastic and reticent, or I can take what I want to accomplish very seriously.”
“It’s not that I feel undervalued in that way — I’m not afraid to stand up for myself and say, ‘Just so you know, this isn’t going to fly with me,'” she told the outlet. I don’t want you to be surprised that I’m a genuine person when that occurs.”
