Oman to build $103m tourism-boosting entertainment initiative 2023
ONA reported that Oman is launching a $103 million integrated entertainment project, Spray Boulevard, in Salalah that will accommodate to both natives and tourists, adding value as an outlet for tourists and residents in the governorate.
The design of the Spray Boulevard project was deemed one of the three finest designs in a competition organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, according to the document.
The project, which will be implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP), will encompass a 470,000m2 area and feature waterfront restaurants, a grand market, cantilevered walkways, and a botanical garden in addition to theatres and venues for specialized exhibitions and events.
Waterfront restaurants, a grand market, suspended walkways, and more are planned.
The Ministry of Finance will fund the first phase of infrastructure and related services with RO10 million, while the remainder will be provided by private sector institutions.
According to the report, the Grand Market, The Square, and Fountain Island will be the focal points of the development, which is anticipated to be completed within the next four years.
Once completed, Spray Boulevard is anticipated to attract 800,000 visitors during the Khareef Dhofar season and 200,000 visitors during the other seasons, according to an official quoted by ONA.
Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, the Governor of Dhofar, stated, “This project will add value as an outlet for tourists and residents in the governorate, as it was built on the word “Oman” as the main axis, and water as the driver of the environmental aspect and energies, and “Spray Boulevard” as the element of rain and its points.”
The initiative will contribute to local tourism promotion and employment creation. It will also become a global tourist destination with a variety of events and exotic tourism experiences over time.
