Taylor Sheridan’s Bass Reeves casts Demi Singleton from ‘King Richard’ 2023
The cast for Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ Western drama series Bass Reeves continues to grow as production in North Texas continues.
According to Paramount+, Demi Singleton, who portrayed a young Serena Williams in the Oscar-winning film King Richard, will play Reeves’ daughter Sally.
The 16-year-old Singleton will feature alongside David Oyelowo, who will play the famed lawman who served as a federal peace officer in Indian Territory during the post-Reconstruction era.
Reeves, who was born a slave, was married twice and had eleven children. According to Paramount+, Singleton’s role is the “precocious daughter” of Bass and Jennie Reeves.
Barry Pepper, Dennis Quaid, Forrest Goodluck, Lauren E. Banks, and Grantham Coleman round out the cast. Paramount+ has not specified the release date for the series.
Singleton, who was born in New Orleans, also played opposite Forest Whitaker in the MGM+ series Godfather of Harlem. Singleton has also starred in School of Rock and The Lion King theatre performances on Broadway.
Singleton will shortly appear in the film The Deliverance, alongside Aunjanue Ellis, Andra Day, and Glenn Close.
Bass Reeves is one of Sheridan’s several spin-offs. The production of this 1883 spin-off commenced in Fort Worth and Waxahachie. Sheridan spent most of 1883 shooting in Fort Worth. In November, he also chose Venus, Johnson County, as a backdrop for a Yellowstone scenario.
