Theroux suggests a “open bromance” between Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey 2023
The number three does not bother Justin Theroux. In actuality, he welcomes it.
Despite stiff competition, Theroux told Entertainment Tonight on Monday that he has formed a bromance with his “White House Plumbers” co-star Woody Harrelson.
“We did have a bit of a bromance,” Theroux said about Harrelson, adding that he is “in competition with” Matthew McConaughey, who has “the OG bromance” with the “Cheers” star.
Theroux continued by stating that he is attempting to “peel them away and see if I can, you know, have an open bromance.”
“It is the year 2023, so we should be able to share bros,”
“White House Plumbers,” due to premiere on HBO Max on May 1, illuminates the story of Watergate scandal accomplices E. Howard Hunt (Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Theroux) and the events that led to one of the biggest political scandals in history. CNN and HBO share the same parent company, Warner Bros.
In the meantime, “True Detective” co-stars Harrelson and McConaughey may be part of one of the OG bromances, but McConaughey revealed on the “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa” podcast last week that he may be related to Harrelson.
Where I end and he begins, and where he begins and I end, has always been a nebulous line,” McConaughey said of Harrelson at the time, adding, “That’s part of our bromance, right? My grandchildren refer to him as Uncle Woody. His children refer to me as Uncle Matthew, etc.
My family thinks many of his photos are of me, but you see us. His family thinks many of my photos show him.”
The friendship between McConaughey and Harrelson dates back to the 1999 film “EDtv,” and they will soon appear in a forthcoming Apple TV+ comedy series titled “Brother From Another Mother,” which fictionalizes their own friendship.
Theroux, who has worked with both actors, is not terribly surprised by the possibility that Harrelson and McConauhey are related, telling ET, “it’s just a mentality. Both of them are always so wonderfully and joyfully relaxed.”
