With his final picture under production, Quentin Tarantino has said, Reports 2023
Fans of Quentin Tarantino may not be pleased with this news. According to various sources, Quentin Tarantino is now working on his final picture. The maverick filmmaker has to work on a project called Cinema Critic and is presently planning to direct this autumn.
The director has always claimed that he could only direct a limited amount of films, stating that he planned to direct 10 films or retire by age 60. The writer-director has directed nine films to date (ten if you consider both Kill Bill films as one) and will be sixty later this month.
According to sources, the narrative takes place in late 1970s Los Angeles and has a female protagonist. Reportedly, the plot concentrates on Pauline Kael, one of the most prominent cinema reviewers of all time.
What did Pauline Kael do?
Kael, who died in 2001, was not merely a critic but also an essayist and writer. She was notorious for her combativeness with both editors and directors. In the late 1970s, at the request of actor Warren Beatty, Kael briefly served as a consultant for Paramount.
The period of that Paramount employment seems to fit with the setting of the screenplay — and the filmmaker is known to have a profound admiration for Kael, making the likelihood of her being the focus of the film more plausible.
Over his almost two-decade-long career, Tarantino has been acknowledged for bringing out the best in performers. He has collaborated twice with renowned celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. Christoph Waltz won two Oscars with his direction. Samuel L. Jackson is a frequent collaborator.
If this is actually his last picture, there will be no shortage of actors lining up to play roles in it. The cast of Tarantino’s new film has not yet been confirmed. Maybe we’ll all have to wait for the filmmaker’s formal announcement.
