With Jonathan Majors’ scandal, will Marvel replace Kang? We know this.
In March 2023, the NYPD arrested actor Jonathan Majors for domestic abuse. Fans are asking if Marvel would replace 33-year-old Kang The Conqueror in the Multiverse Saga. Read on for details.
Does Marvel recast Jonathan Majors?
Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars pit the Avengers against Kang, hence Majors’ recasting has been a hot topic. Kang, the story’s adversary, is too crucial to be overlooked. Marvel reportedly spoke with the Majors’ representatives following Kang’s incarceration, but it’s unclear if Kang will be recast.
Kang, the film’s chief marketer, is absent from its digital release posters and promotional material. Once Majors was jailed, the US Army halted its multimillion-dollar commercial campaign with the actor. “Although Mr. Majors is innocent until proven guilty, prudence requires that we suspend our advertising until the inquiry into these claims is complete,” said Army Enterprise Marketing Office spokesman Laura DeFrancisco.
Kang, played by Jonathan Majors, is the story’s major villain and must be included in the subsequent films.
In the Loki season 2 trailer, Kang appears. Majors is reportedly still in the trailer. His scenes were not deleted from the scheduled promotional content. Marvel may recast parts again if they wish. Marvel may need to make a smart move to prevent outrage as Kang will connect the connections in the following two Avengers flicks.
“Marvel hasn’t made any choices on Jonathan Majors but they’ve visited with or spoken to his agent to examine potential alternatives going ahead,” says film reviewer Jeff Sneider. Kang’s absence from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s digital advertising may be a hint, but Marvel, the popular media brand, will decide.
