CMT Awards: Winners 2023
Sunday night was the night when Austin, Texas’s Moody Center played host to the CMT Music Awards, which are presented by Country Music Television.
Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown, who were both nominated for an award this year and performed during the show, served as the hosts of the celebration event, which was decided by the public voting online.
Kane and his wife Katelyn Brown made history when they became the first husband-and-wife duo to win the coveted video of the year award at the end of the night for their 2022 song “Thank God.” This was also the first time that either of them had won in the category individually. Kane and Katelyn Brown won for their song “Thank God.”
Rapper and country artist Jelly Roll also had a successful night on Sunday, winning three prizes and taking home the award for male breakthrough video of the year.
At the ceremony, there were performances by Gwen Stefani, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban, and Alanis Morissette, who made her CMT debut with a performance that celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the “CMT Next Women of Country.” Other artists who performed at the ceremony included Gwen Stefani, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, and Keith Urban.
Shania Twain, an icon of country music, was presented with the “CMT Equal Play Award” in 2023. Also, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Lynyrd Skynyrd were honored with tribute performances by a variety of singers.
While she did not walk away with any prizes on Sunday, Underwood still holds the record for most CMT Awards victories with a total of 25 wins.
