Met Gala Red Carpet: See every celebrity dress and attire 2023
The red carpet for the Met Gala 2023 has officially begun at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year’s annual event honors the exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: The Line of Beauty.”
The gala will raise funds for The Met’s Costume Institute and commemorate the legacy of Karl Lagerfeld, the late designer who oversaw fashion houses including Chanel, Fendi, and his own eponymous label.
Naturally, the star-studded red carpet spectacle that will take place as guests ascend the famous Met steps is just as essential as the exhibition itself. In fact, the Met Gala—often referred to as the “Super Bowl of fashion”—has spawned some of the most memorable (and viral) celebrity red carpet styles of the past decade.
This year, the A-list guests were requested to dress “in honor of Karl”; therefore, you can expect to see custom ensembles that pay homage to Lagerfeld’s design signatures, such as his Chanel tweeds and black uniform.
This year’s formal co-hosts for the Met Gala included Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, Dua Lipa, and Anna Wintour from Vogue. Actors such as Alia Bhatt, performers, athletes, supermodels (including Naomi Campbell), and artists attended the event.
