South Korean rapper Ravi departs VIXX after avoiding military duty, faces 2-year jail sentence 2023
Ravi, a South Korean rapper and songwriter, is rumored to have departed the K-pop group VIXX following allegations that he attempted to avoid South Korea’s mandatory military service by submitting fraudulent medical documents. On January 12, South Korea’s investigating agency charged Ravi with evading military service by supplying fraudulent medical records.
Prosecutors have requested a two-year prison term for the K-pop icon.

Jellyfish stated in a statement, as reported by Soompi, “We earnestly appreciate the fans who support VIXX, and we regret to inform you of member Ravi’s departure.”
“After thorough discussion between Ravi and the agency, it has been determined that he will depart the team effective immediately,” the company said.
“We sincerely apologize for causing difficulty for VIXX’s supporters,” the statement continued.
All males under the age of 30 in South Korea are required to execute approximately two years of military service.
Ravi has reportedly been accused of employing a military broker who allegedly assisted him in faking epilepsy symptoms during a military examination, allowing him to serve as a social worker instead of a soldier.
Ravi also apologized for offending the feelings of others. “At the time, I was the only artist generating revenue (for the label), and we were at risk of incurring substantial penalties for contract violations due to COVID-19. “I apologize to those serving honorably in the military as well as to epilepsy patients and their families whom I have harmed,” he said.
The court has decided to deliver the K-pop star’s sentence at a later date. While the verdict will be forthcoming, Jellyfish Entertainment has verified that Ravi is no longer a member of VIXX.
