Why Pete Davidson Refused to Joke About Kim Kardashian on “SNL” 2023
As a result of Pete Davidson’s return to Saturday Night Live in the hosting role, he will be allotted a complete monologue, which essentially serves the same purpose as a short stand-up routine. But if you’re expecting Pete to bring up his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian, it appears that any jokes about the two of them together are out of the question entirely.
The website Page Six reports that Pete “decided not to take any jabs at the reality star,” and a source tells the publication that while Pete will be “a good sport” about his love life, he is “being a gentleman” when it comes to Kim.
Why, you ask? It would appear that when Kim and Pete ended their relationship in August of 2022, they both came to the conclusion that it was best to “drop everything” and “move on,” which is “why she’s not mentioned in his stand-up.”
There is a very good reason why Kim’s jokes are never acceptable.
“[He’s respecting the fact that] her team is so protective of her image, and it was so volatile coming from Kanye’s side,” the person continued.
However, another insider tells Page Six that they won’t be surprised if a Kardashian bit does make it into the show, saying, “Nothing has been written yet, but know that with Pete, nothing is off the table.” In other words, Page Six won’t be surprised if a Kardashian bit does make it into the show.
So, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see….A gentle reminder that Pete and Kim first crossed paths back in October 2021, when Kim was hosting Saturday Night Live. Which is to say that they engaged in a passionate kiss while acting out a scene from Jasmine and Aladdin.
