WWE Hall of Famer explains why Cody Rhodes losing at WrestleMania 39 was “right call” 2023
Teddy Long recently explained why WWE made the “right call” by scheduling Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39.
Prior to WrestleMania 39, fans viewed Rhodes’ victory over Reigns in the main event as a foregone conclusion. Nevertheless, to everyone’s complete surprise, The Tribal Chief delivered The American Nightmare a heartbreaking loss to maintain his monumental championship reign. Although nearly two weeks have passed since the event, fans continue to debate whether WWE made the correct decision.
“We talked about it before. Cody [Rhodes] winning was too soon. I told you that already. But other than that, I think they had a hell of a match. But as I said, Cody is just back now; he’s fresh, so there’s a lot of money to be made with him and lots of stories that could be told down the line. So I think they made the right call.”
Teddy Long discussed the trending topic on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, hosted by Mac Davis.
Cody Rhodes could not yet be crowned the Undisputed Universal Champion, according to the WWE Hall of Famer. Long believes there are still numerous stories to be told and vast sums of money to be made before WWE fires Rhodes.
Cody Rhodes should eliminate The Bloodline from within, according to Vince Russo.
Vince Russo proposed an intriguing plan for Cody Rhodes’ future in WWE on the most recent episode of The Wrestling Outlaws on Sportskeeda Wrestling. The veteran wrestler explained that Rhodes must infiltrate The Bloodline from within, as Bryan Danielson did in 2013-2014 with The Wyatt Family.
“I have said it from day one, Cody Rhodes is a heel. And if you’re going to do anything with him, bro, could you imagine if they did the Daniel Bryan-Bray Wyatt thing and it set it up in such a way where Cody joins The Bloodline? But, he’s gonna destroy [it] from the inside; I mean, it’s a master plan. The last in the world that represents a babyface is a fricking suit. Look at the audience; have they ever worn a suit?”
For the time being, Cody Rhodes is concentrating on Brock Lesnar, since the two of them are anticipated to headline the premium live event Backlash that will take place the following month.
