Neil Diamond takes longer to accept his 2018 Parkinson’s diagnosis. The 82-year-old discussed his progressing neurological illness in a recent interview.

He admitted to being in denial for two years after his diagnosis of the central nervous system illness that impairs brain and body mobility. “I’m doing it,” he said. I hate it. He said, “But… this is me; this is what I have to accept. I’m ready. I’m making the best of God’s hand. I am.”

He has accepted his diagnosis “only in the last few weeks,” which has provided him peace of mind. He’s happier and friendlier since then. Self-compassion is his.
