With a documentary on her time as a child star, Demi Lovato will make her directorial debut 2023

Demi Lovato, a well-known singer, is getting ready to launch her career as a filmmaker. As per Variety, Lovato will helm will ‘Child Star’ (working title), a feature-length documentary that aims to “deconstruct the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world’s most famous former child stars, including Lovato.”

Lovato will co-direct alongside Nicola Marsh (“Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story,” “Song Exploder”). In 2024, the documentary will be available to view online only on Hulu.

Lovato began her start in the entertainment industry as a young adult in the Disney Channel original movie “Camp Rock” and the television sitcom “Sonny With a Chance.” The streaming service is owned by Disney. Even though the identities of those who will be interviewed for the film are being carefully guarded for the time being, the movie promises interviews with a number of former child stars.

According to a press release, “the film will reach beyond the traditional narratives seen in op-eds and tabloids to consider the changing nature of growing up in an increasingly connected and public world.” This will be accomplished “through intimate conversations led by Lovato, verite footage, and archival material from all subjects involved.” “There is no greater film or theme for my directorial debut than this narrative, which is near to heart,” Lovato said in a statement. “There is also no better topic for my directorial debut than this story.” “Our initiative focuses light on vital ideas about growing up in the public glare, learning to safeguard our boundaries, and learning to become active advocates of our own futures as individuals. I consider it an honor and a privilege to be able to get knowledge from those people who have gone through the one-of-a-kind experience of having a child superstar and share the experiences of their lives in our film.”

We are looking forward to learning more information about the documentary.
